Movement Assessment & Gait Analysis
Movement and gait analysis is a scientific assessment of how an individual walks or runs to understand movement patterns and identify any abnormalities in the person’s gait cycle. At Accelerate Performance Centre, our Movement and Gait Analysis service provides a deep look into how your body moves, allowing us to identify movement inefficiencies, imbalances, and potential risk factors. The goal is simple: help you move better, perform stronger, and reduce your risk of injury.
During your session, our team will assess posture, joint mobility and stability, muscle activation, foot mechanics, and overall movement efficiency. This comprehensive approach allows us to see how your body functions as a whole, from the way your feet strike the ground to how your hips, knees, and shoulders work in unison with each step. We will also identify any areas of weakness or imbalance through functional movements, such as a body weight squat, and note any areas which may need more specific work. Video footage will then be used to demonstrate how you run/walk on a treadmill, and the team can then start to formulate a plan to move forward to help you.
Movement and gait analysis is beneficial if you are looking to:
- Enhance performance and improve technique
- Reduce chance of injury and aid rehabilitation
- Identify any biomechanical issues
- Check if your current footwear works well with your movement patterns and biomechanics
The main objective is to give you a wider understanding of how you can improve your running and the steps you can take. This may include signposting you to other specialists who can take you through the necessary processes to make this effective for you.
Please Note:
A treadmill is used for the movement and gait analysis. If you would prefer to go outside and not use the treadmill, then please get in touch so that we can allow a little extra time.
It is also advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear for running on a treadmill.
